# Add files and images

> Add a document, drawing or site photo to your question, with the paperclip or by dragging the file into the window.

Want Tooli to check a quote or summarise a specification? Add the file to your question.

## With the paperclip

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click the paperclip">
    You'll find the paperclip at the bottom left of the input box.

    <Frame caption="The paperclip is at the bottom left of the input box.">
      <img src="https://mintcdn.com/buildwise-962a266c/IWRn6RwAT63_zTbI/assets/using/shared/paperclip_and_micro.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=IWRn6RwAT63_zTbI&q=85&s=5a523af1651921557d80b1f8d28aef48" alt="Paperclip and microphone in the input box" width="1012" height="143" data-path="assets/using/shared/paperclip_and_micro.png" />
    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose your file">
    Select one or more files on your computer or phone.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask your question about the file">
    Type what Tooli should do with the file, and send your message.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## By drag and drop

Drag a file from your computer into the chat window. You can drop it anywhere in the window. The file is then added in the same way as with the paperclip.

## Say what Tooli should do with the file

A file without a question produces a general answer. Say what you expect, for example:

* *"Check this quote for missing items."*
* *"Summarise this specification in five points."*
* *"What do you see in this photo of the façade, and what could be causing the damp patches?"*

<Tip>
  Use the [4 W's](/en/using/ask-a-good-question) here too: the more context, the better the answer.
</Tip>

## Have Word and Excel files edited or created

Tooli can also work directly with Word and Excel files:

* **Have a file edited.** Add your file and say what should change, for example *"Adjust the prices in this bill of quantities by 5%"* or *"Rewrite this report in a more formal style."*
* **Have a new file created.** Ask Tooli, for example, *"Make an Excel file with a schedule for this site"* or *"Put this report in a Word document."*

You get the result as a file in the chat, which you can download straight away.

## Limits

You can add **up to 10 files per message**, with a maximum of **10 MB per file**.

If adding a file doesn't work, or you want to know which file types Tooli supports, see [Technical problems](/en/support/technical-problems).
